Maintenance center
Using this page, you can manage all the Dell EMC complaint servers discovered in OMIMSSC. The following are the features available Maintenance center page:
- Filter the
comparison report based on available server components.
- Clear Filters—clear all the applied filters.
- Export Inventory—export the latest inventory of the selected servers in .XML or .CSV format to create a repository. And, you can use this inventory information to create a reference inventory file in an update source. For more information, see Exporting inventory.
- Run Update—apply firmware updates on components by selecting
servers or group of servers. NOTE: When you start this task, the task takes considerable time based on the number of servers and server components present.
To perform firmware update, select an update source only. For more information, see Update source.
For more information about creating custom groups for applying firmware updates on servers or group of servers, see Creating custom group.
For canceling scheduled firmware update jobs, see Manage jobs.
NOTE: You cannot update the CMC firmware version by using OMIMSSC console extensions.NOTE: By default, the OMIMSSC console extension is packaged with a catalog that displays an earlier version of the comparison report for predefined FTP and HTTP update source. Hence, download the latest catalog to display the latest comparison report. To download the latest catalog, edit and save the FTP and HTTP update source. - Export Server Profile—export server profile with their hardware configurations. For more information, see For more information, see Export server profiles. For more information about managing jobs for exporting server profile, see Manage jobs.
- Import Server Profile—importing a server profile is useful in restoring the configuration and firmware of the server to the state stored in the profile. For more information about importing server profile, see Import server profile. For more information about managing jobs for importing server profile, see Manage jobs.
- Select Update Group—displays all the update groups in OMIMSSC. Update groups are a group of servers that require similar management. For more information, see Update groups.
- Manage Jobs—view, and cancel jobs that are started in Maintenance Center. For more information, see Manage jobs.
- Configure Part Replacement—update a replaced component to the required firmware version or the configuration of the old component, or both. For more information, see Part replacement.
- Export LC Logs—export complete or active LC logs for troubleshooting. For more information, see LC Logs.
- View LC Logs—view, search, download, and export LC log messages. For more information, see Viewing LC logs
- Update Action—The following update types are possible:
- Downgrade—there is an earlier version available at update source, since the update has been demoted. As there is an earlier version available at the update source, the OMISSC Appliance downgrades the firmware to this version.
- No Action Required—the firmware version is already at the same level as in the repository.
Not Available—no firmware updates are available for any component.
- Upgrade - Optional—update consists of new features or any specific configuration upgrades that are optional.
- Upgrade - Urgent—critical updates includes upgrade for resolving security, performance, or break-fix situations in components such as BIOS, and so on.
- Upgrade - Recommended—update carry bug fixes or any feature enhancements in the product. Also, compatibility fixes with other firmware versions are included.
- Notification Bell—receive alerts when new updates are
available at update sources. Click the notification bell icon to replace
the locally cached catalog with the latest catalog available at the
update source. Once the latest catalogs are replaced with the old
catalogs, the color of the bell is changed to green. NOTE: The color of the notification bell is changed to orange when there is a new catalog file available at the update source.
- View a comparison report of firmware inventory against a baseline version.
- Select Update Source—view all the update sources, and the inventory output files. For more information about the types of update sources, see Update source.
- Allow Downgrade—select to allow downgrading the firmware version of the selected component, if the recommended version is an earlier version than the current version. If this option is not selected, there is no action on the component that requires a firmware downgrade.
- Filter Updates—apply filters to view selected information in the comparison report. OMIMSSC supports three categories of filters:
- Nature Of Update—select to filter and view only the selected type of updates on servers.
- Component Type—select to filter and view only the selected components on servers.
- Server Model—select to filter and view only the selected server models.
NOTE: You cannot export and import server profiles, if the filters are already applied. - Refresh Inventory—refresh the inventory information of selected servers or server groups, component information. When you start this task, the task takes considerable time based on the number of servers and server components present. You cannot perform other tasks during this process. Refreshing inventory refreshes the entire server’s inventory even though you select a single component in that server. When you start this task, the task takes considerable time based on the number of servers and server components present.
- Device Groups/Servers—view names of all the server groups available in OMIMSSC. You can expand the server groups to server component level.
- Available Updates—view the number of recommended updates for servers or server groups. You can hover your cursor on the available updates icon to see the corresponding details of updates, such as number of critical updates, recommended updates, and so on.
- The available updates
icon indicator color is based on overall criticality of the updates
and following are the critical update categories:
- The color is red even if there is a single critical update in the server or server group.
- The color is yellow if there are no critical updates.
- The color is green if the firmware versions are up-to-date.
- Component
Information—view the firmware version at component level
of a server. It also provides a component level comparison report
of the existing firmware version and the baseline firmware version
with criticality. NOTE: For 11th generation of the PowerEdge servers, when there are multiple network interfaces available in a single NIC, there is only one entry for all the interfaces in the Component Information list. After the firmware update is applied, all the NICs are upgraded.NOTE: For 11th generation of the PowerEdge servers, when a NIC is added along with the existing cards, the newly added NIC is listed as another instance in the Component Information list. Once the firmware update is applied, all the NICs are upgraded.NOTE: For 11th generation of the PowerEdge servers, you cannot upgrade the Power Supply Unit (PSU) firmware versions.
